WORKIN IT|AJ Rafael x ISAtv “Matchmaker” Music Video

Recently, I had the pleasure of styling AJ Rafael’s latest music video, “Matchmaker“, directed by Jason Poon. The BEST part of my job, no contest, is getting to meet and work with so many insanely creative, ridiculously hard-working people.  Over our 12-hr shoot at YouTube Space LA, I styled some 20 people (4 band members, plus extras) in 4 distinct party looks…and I’m pretty sure I was laughing the whole way through.  Working hard for sure, but laughing all along the way.  THAT is why I love my job.  Everyone involved was down-to-earth and just downright happy to be there. Also, there were donuts. Lots of donuts.  Good people AND donuts? I mean, that right there is a combination destined for a good time.

Playing matchmaker themselves (see what I did there?), ISAtv, who produced the video, introduced me to fellow costume designer, Pei Lynn Juang, my partner-in-crime for the video’s art & costume design team.  Like the multi-talented champ that she is, on the day of the shoot, she ended up in charge of dressing the set….& she killed it.  Check out who this fabulous lady is over on her blog: Have Peitience.

ON|THE|JOB: Exquisite Weddings Magazine

Back in June, I had the pleasure of styling a shoot for EXQUISITE WEDDINGS Magazine’s FALL/HOLIDAY 2012 issue…

…& it’s here!! Yay!

I couldn’t be more excited to share the images with you!  Not only did I get to work with the ever imaginative (& downright FUN!) team at Exquisite Weddings, I also got to pull some ah-mazing pieces from local favorites: Pigment (North Park), Crow Thief custom menswear (South Park), Iontiveros custom ties (Little Italy),  Mimi & Lu, and Vocabulary Boutique (Little Italy).

We shot on location at the New Children’s Museum (a kidult’s dream!) & I couldn’t be happier with the final looks.  If you look closely, you’ll see some signature Dani details;)

Or, if you wanna see it in print (it’s always better in print), flip through a copy at your neighborhood Target, Walmart, Barnes &  Noble, CVS, or grocery store.

On the Job: Halo Awards

At the beginning of October, I disappeared for a few days…and this is where I went:  Along with the rest of the fabulous Style Studio team, I spent 3 days in LA prepping and styling a commercial for Nickelodeon’s Halo Awards coming up in December.  One of the places we pulled from was the Universal costume house (aka: Every stylist’s dream…or nightmare, depending on how you look at it).  It was an entire floor dedicated to costumes, period pieces, and all the accompanying accessories – just aisle after aisle of clothing.  It. was. awesome.  With 5 sets and over 50 people to dress, shoot day was LONG and crazy, but everyone looked great!  I even learned how to tie a traditional sari!  I guess there’s something to be said about working a crazy 13+ hour day and loving every moment of it…

You can check out the final commercial HERE.

And, here’s the Style Studio team…not bad for having just worked a 13 hour day, right?
