Can you guess what today’s MAKEMOVES|MONDAY’s going to be about?
If you guessed “worrying” then you’d be absolutely correct. Look at you starting the day off all knowledgable & smart!
Worrying…just try not to do it, like, ever.
I know, I know, there ARE some things that warrant worrying – REAL problems. But most of the time, worrying’s just a big waste of energy, a way for you to throw yourself down the rabbit hole, so when you’re down there, looking up, you can say you saw it coming. Lame.
Think of all that time you spend worrying…and then think about all the OTHER things you could be doing with that time.
Like, ACTUALLY doing things, making things happen.
Or, if you really must think….think of all the other things you could be thinking about.
I mean, which sounds better:
A) Sitting there for 10 minutes, with this frowny look on your face that will indubitably give you wrinkles, thinking about either something that might not ever happen (waste of time), or that’s going to happen and there’s nothing you can really do about it (waste of time)…OR,
B) Sitting there for 10 minutes, thinking about, I don’t know, ANYTHING else.
The point is…don’t worry. Hakuna matata. Life’s going to work itself out whether you sit there worrying about it or not.
If you feel yourself starting to worry, just…stop. Seriously, don’t go down that path. Start counting if you have to, because as ridiculous as you might feel doing so, at least you’re not inflicting unnecessary discomfort on yourself.
I mean, I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather spend that mental energy thinking about, say, some hot girl (which isn’t productive at all but at least it’s making me smile) than waste it on hypothetical situations that are only going to bring me down. Just sayin.
