Orange Crush

Making its way back onto the runway, and into my heart, is that delectable color in all its citrus-y glory…ORANGE! I’ll admit…I’ve got a bit of an ORANGE CRUSH! I’ve always had this theory that everyone secretly loves orange soda, that if asked what kind of soda they would like, they’d ask for one of the “safer” flavors (coke, sprite, dr.pepper even), but offer them orange soda and its always the first to go. Same goes for the color orange. I didn’t think much about it until I saw it, and then I remembered how much I really do love the color. Much like its soda counterpart, there’s something nostalgic about the color, something that triggers the effervescent youth in me to start jumping with excitement. This time around though, designers
are adding a little spice to the mix. This season’s shade of orange has a fiery, sassy kick to it,
making the bold color a necessity as temperatures heat up!

This persimmon Diane von Furstenburg (www.net-a-porter.com)is the perfect way to wear orange all day. DRESS IT DOWN with flat gold gladiator sandals, simple gold hoops, and a great ring. Or DRESS IT UP with hot gold stilettos, a long and layered thin gold necklace, stacked bangles, and a fabulous metallic clutch. Anchor the bright color with a new neutral, like grey (BCBG Max Azria), or take a page from the color wheel and wear it with a complementary color, like blue (as seen on the Gucci runway).

Feeling bold…maybe just not THAT bold? Simply mix splashes of orange into your outfit, with a bright belt or a wristful of bangles, as Alberta Ferretti did.
